May 6, 1937: Led Zeppelin album photo shoot held in New Jersey

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – In a remarkable feat of foresight, a photographer captured this image of the unfolding Hindenburg Disaster that would be used over three decades later as the cover art for the debut album of a band that didn’t even exist yet.

British rock group Led Zeppelin would go on to form in 1968 in London, completely unaware that the session to photograph an iconic image for their eponymous first release had already taken place.

Another amazing coincidence concerning the album and the aircraft was that both groups that launched them shared the uncommon name “Zeppelin”. Observers have observed that such a coincidence is amazing.
